Box Score Spartanburg, SC - The Lady Wildcats (2-2) hit the road this evening to take on the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College. Unfortunately, JWU was unable to take the victory as the Pioneers won the match 3-0.
Both teams played strong at the net early in game one. The Lady Wildcats were able to get the initial lead at 3-2, but the Pioneers would quickly take the lead and maintain it for the remainder of game one. SMC went on a 15-1 run, increasing their lead behind powerful offense. The Pioneers took game one 25-12.
Game two began with strong offense by the Pioneers, due to the Lady Wildcats committing mistakes at the net. SMC found their offense first moving to a 3-7 lead. Great battling at the net by the Pioneers led them on a 15-1 run over the Lady Wildcats. JWU was unable to cut into SMC's lead. The Pioneers went on to take game two 25-10.
The Lady Wildcats started slow behind several errors, falling 0-6 in game three. After falling behind further, JWU would close the gap by tying the game at 8 and again at 13 all. However, the Pioneers would regain their momentum to take the game 25-19, for a 3-0 victory.
The Lady Wildcats are next in action on Wednesday, September 28 when they take on the Lady Titans of Guilford Technical Community College. Match time set for 6:00 pm.
