Box Score Winston-Salem, NC - Johnson & Wales (8-5) traveled to Winston-Salem this evening to play the Piedmont International University Bruins (3-7). The Lady Wildcats were able to make quick work of the Lady Bruins behind strong play in all facets of the game. The 'Cats won the match in 3 games, extending their winning streak to 6.
The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a quick 9-1 lead behind solid serving from Summer Meredith and back to back aces from Kylie Marquardt in game one. JWU committed a few mistakes in the middle portion of the game, allowing the Lady Bruins to close the gap somewhat. In the end, Piedmont International was unable to catch the 'Cats, as JWU cruised to a 25-12 victory.
Game two started similar to game one, as the Lady Wildcats found themselves staked to an 18-2 lead behind serving from Marquardt and Tori Dublino. The Lady Bruins were unable to mount a charge, as JWU continued to extend the lead. The Lady Wildcats went on to finish out game two with a score of 25-7.
Piedmont International challenged JWU early in game three, tying the game three times at 8, 9, and 10. The Lady Wildcats clawed back, regained the lead at 11-10, and finished with a 14-5 run, to close out the game, and the match 25-15.
The Lady Wildcats are next in action this Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st as they travel to Front Royal, VA to play in the Christendom College Tournament.
