Box Score Charlotte, NC – 20th ranked Johnson & Wales (7-13) hosted the defending National Champion and 8th ranked Warren Wilson College (8-9) this evening. The Wildcats fought to the very end, earning the win, 67-50.
The game began with a flurry of 3 pointers from both teams, which saw the Owls take a 14-11 lead at the 14:52 mark. The teams traded the lead back and forth for much of the rest of the half, before Hursel Forbes 3 pointer with 1:35 left gave the Wildcats a 31-28 half time advantage.
Three Hursel Forbes 3 pointers in the first 7 minutes of the second half allowed JWU to increase their lead to 9 at 43-34. The Wildcats jumped out to a 15 point lead just over two minutes later on the strength of 5 points by Kindrick Anderson and a Joshua Cohen 3 pointer. Warren Wilson would get no closer than 10 points the rest of the way, as JWU cruised home to a 67-50 win.
The Wildcats were led by Anderson with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Forbes followed with 23 points and 3 rebounds. Nick Crawford added 10 rebounds and 8 assists. JWU is currently 6-2 at home and 4-1 against USCAA competition.
The Wildcats are next in action this weekend as they host the JWU Invitational. They face Florida College at 8:30pm on Friday. Saturday's opponent and game time will be determined based on Friday night's results. All games will be held in the JWU Student Center Gym.
