Box Score Swannanoa, NC – 13th ranked Johnson & Wales (8-16) hit the road this evening to pay a visit to the 10th ranked Warren Wilson Owls (11-10). The Wildcats got off to a hot start but couldn't sustain that pace as the Owl prevailed 92-79.
The Wildcats were lights out from the field in the first half shooting 17 of 29, and were 5 of 12 from the three point line. They controlled the game for much of the 1st half, twice building leads as large as 14, which last came from the 5:03 mark. Warren Wilson cut the deficit in half with a 14-7 run to go in to the locker room and only trailing 43-36.
The Owls begin the 2nd half with a 10-3 spurt over the first 4:32 minutes of the game to tie it up at 46. The game remained close for the next 10 minutes; neither team could find much offensive flow. At this point the Warren Wilson offense started clicking and the Owls built there advantage to as many as 15 points. Conversely the Wildcats went cold from the field and could not mount a comeback, eventually failing 92-79.
Nick Crawford lead the Wildcats with 20 points and 4 assists. Kindrick Anderson added 15 points and 6 rebounds. DeQuincey Bennett and Joshua Cohen chipped in with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
The Wildcats two game road trip concludes Saturday when they head to Elizabeth City to take on another USCAA foe, Mid-Atlantic Christian. Game time is 4pm.
