Box Score Thomasville, NC -- The Johnson & Wales Volleyball Team visited Davidson County Community College on Tuesday evening for the tenth meeting between the two teams. It was a hard fought match that was very entertaining and competitive, but the Wildcats came up short, losing the match in 4 games. Individual game scores were 25-22, 20-25, 22-25, and 21-25.
The Wildcats came out swinging and took a lead in the first game. DCCC tried to narrow the gap, but the Wildcats finished strong to take the first set. The Storm bounced back in the second game by taking a lead themselves and beating the Wildcats to 25. In the third game, JWU fought off six straight game points before the game ended on a controversial call at the net. The fourth game was equally as exciting, but the Wildcats just could not manage to pull out the victory.
JWU was led by Lucy Herrmann with 11 kills, Reanna Bray with 8 kills, and Erika Ross and Sarah Slaughter with 7 each. Hailey Thrift had 30 assists, and Summer Meredith and Jackie Clifford each had 13 digs, while Sarah Slaughter had 12 and Samantha Johnson had 11 for the Wildcat defense. The Wildcats travel to St. Andrews University on Thursday. Game time is 7:00 PM.
