Men's Basketball Ends Tough Stretch and Looks Toward the JWU Cup

Box Score

Buies Creek, NC -- The Johnson & Wales Men's Basketball Team reached the end of a tough stretch on their schedule Monday night as they took on the NCAA Division I Campbell University Fighting Camels.  JWU has played three NCAA Division I opponents and two NCAA Division II opponents since November 19.  The only other game in that period was a heartbreaker to NCAA Division III Averett University by three points.  The Wildcats had a good first half and benefited from some sloppy play from Campbell to finish the first half with a very respectable ten-point deficit.  The Camels came alive in the second half to hit ten of their first fifteen shots on their way to their biggest lead of twenty-six points and a final score of 63-38.  Campbell (2-5) got balanced scoring from the team with no one in double figures and twelve of fourteen players putting points on the board.

The Wildcats were led by Nick Crawford and Andrew Williams with 7 points each, and Rickey Porter added 6 points.  JWU (4-7) can now turn its attention to the JWU Cup and the other JWU campuses coming to town.  The JWU Charlotte Wildcats will take on JWU Denver at 7:30 PM on Friday in their first home game in almost a month.  A win puts them in the championship against the Providence-North Miami winner at 3:00 PM on Saturday, and a loss puts them in the consolation game at 1:00 PM on Saturday.  Come out and support your Charlotte Wildcats this weekend at the 2nd Annual JWU Cup!
