Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Men's Basketball team saw their 21 game home court winning streak snapped at the hands of Averett on Tuesday night.
The Cougars (5-1) jumped out to an early 10-4 lead behind 8 points from Charles Bryant. Averett led by as many as fourteen points in the first half that saw them shoot a sizzling 60.7% from the field, including 6-11 from three point land.
JWU (4-3) could do little to stem the tide in the second half as Averett used a 41-25 advantage on the boards to help extend the lead to 20 in the stanza's first 8 minutes. The Wildcats would get no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
Rickey Porter led the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds while Brandon Cole added 15 points off the bench.
Averett saw four players reach double figures led by Bryant's 16 points.
The Wildcats are next in action on Saturday as they travel to UNC-Asheville for a 4:30pm contest.
