Box Score Charlotte, NC - An early tip-off time seemed to throw the Wildcats for a loop as they could not overcome a poor first quarter, eventually falling to cross town rival Johnson C. Smith 88-56.
The Lady Golden Bulls (5-3) shot 58% in the first period of the game, which tipped off at 11am to build a 30-13 lead. Ashley Porter paced the Johnson C. Smith scoring in the first half with 11 points, helping the hosts to a 48-28 halftime lead.
JWU could do little to stem the tide in the third period, but Vanderia Shackleford did provide a bright spot with 9 points in the stanza. The Wildcats played JCSU to a 13-13 draw in the 4th, but the damage had been done at that point.
Shackelford led all scorers in the game with 19 points, while Donyelle Stuetley added 10 points for JWU. Porter earned high scorer honors for JSCU with 16 points.
The Wildcats have a quick turnaround as they host USCAA foe Apprentice School Saturday at 3pm.
