Box Score Raleigh, NC - The Johnson & Wales women's volleyball team suffered a tough four-set loss to Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday by the scores of 26-24, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22.
The Wildcats (1-2), behind the serving of Kaylin Doctor, battled back from a 24-19 deficit in the first set to level the score, but would eventually drop the next two points. They would again rally in the second set, as Cameron Leonhardt's serving helped them rebound from a 19-12 hole and take the lead, but the Wildcats could not hold the advantage.
Wake Tech improved to 4-2 on the season.
"We played very well in spots and fought our way back into games after being down early," said Wildcats head coach Callie Phillips. "We will learn soon that we can't always play catch-up and experience the success we want. I'm encouraged by some of the things we did tonight, and I look forward to it all coming together for us soon."
Lucy Herrmann paced Johnson & Wales with 16 kills on the night while Hailey Thrift talled 26 assists.
The Wildcats will resume play on Friday when they travel to Davidson County Community College for a 6:30 p.m. match.
