Box Score 2 Berea, KY - The Johnson & Wales volleyball finished winless at the Berea College USCAA Tournament on Saturday, falling in five sets to Cincinnati Clermont (10-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 10-15) and in straight sets to Concordia-Alabama (16-25, 24-26, 16-25).
The USCAA #4 Wildcats (13-10) struggled to take care of the ball once again, committing 27 errors against Cincinnati Clermont and 23 against Concordia-Alabama.
"We had a tough time at this tournament," said Johnson & Wales head coach Callie Phillips. "We have lots of room for improvement, and we will set out to move in the right direction again this week."
Against Cincinnati Clermont, Lucy Herrmann led the way with 20 kills and 16 digs. Hailey Thrift paced the offense with 26 assists while Halle Franklin chipped in with 16 digs.
Herrmann would post another 11 kills against Concordia-Alabama while Thrift collected 19 assists. Samantha Johnson had 17 digs for the Wildcats.
The team will resume play on Thursday when it travels to Johnson C. Smith University. Play will begin at 7:00 p.m.
