Box Score Salisbury, NC - The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team extended their winning streak to six after sweeping Livingstone College 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 on Friday.
The Wildcats (8-3) have won all six matches on the road and are on a roll heading into their season home opener on Tuesday against Johnson C. Smith University.
"This was a huge win for us," said Wildcats head coach Callie Phillips. "Our team really worked together to take on a tough Livingstone squad. I'm so proud of our team effort tonight. We were big up front and our defense held strong to give us lots of opportunities. We are really looking forward to a big crowd at our home opener against Johnson C. Smith on Tuesday."
In the decisive game, Johnson & Wales trailed 5-1 early in the set before mounting a comeback to claim an 11-8 lead. Kaylin Doctor had two key kills late in the set to give the Wildcats a 23-19 lead and put them in position to clinch the sweep.
Lucy Herrmann led the way with 11 kills and 14 digs on the night. Hailey Thrift collected 24 assists while Cameron Leonhardt added eight kills and four blocks for Johnson & Wales.
The Wildcats home opener against Johnson C. Smith is slated for Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
