Box Score Laurinburg, NC - The Johnson & Wales men's basketball team was unable to make a double-digit halftime lead hold up as they fell on the road to NAIA opponent St. Andrews University 71-65 on Monday.
The Wildcats (5-9), who led 37-27 at the break, were paced by Nick Crawford's double-double of 17 points and 12 boards.
Johnson & Wales had more field goals during the game than St. Andrews (27 to 23), but the hosts held a 19-8 advantage from the free throw line, with 16 more attempts than the Wildcats. The Knights also owned the boards, claiming a 50-38 rebounding advantage.
Rickey Porter scored 16 on the night for Johnson & Wales on 7-of-15 shooting.
St. Andrews (7-8) was led by Titus Gary with 19 points.
The Wildcats will resume play on Wednesday when they host USCAA rival Warren Wilson College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
