Shackleford Sets Scoring Mark in Loss to Vorhees

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales sophomore Vanderia Shackleford set a school record with 40 points as the Wildcats lost 84-78 to Vorhees College in women's basketball on Thursday.

Shackleford finished 14-of-19 from the field and 10-of-13 from the line for the Wildcats (6-13), while adding eight rebounds on the night.

Her point total is the most scored by any player in school history, man or woman.  She now has scored over 20 points in six consecutive contests.

Jaquana Pauling added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Johnson & Wales for her second straight double-double.  Amber Gladden chipped in with 10 points.

The Wildcats trailed by just four with 1:19 remaining in the contest after a pair of free throws by Shackleford, but a 6-0 run by Vorhees would put the game effectively out of reach.

Jenayah Moore led Vorhees with 20 points and 15 rebounds on the evening.

Johnson & Wales will resume play on Monday when they host NCAA Division 1 foe North Carolina Central.  Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.
