Box Score Swannanoa, NC - In a matchup of top-ten USCAA teams, the #5 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team came up just short in a nail-biter at #6 Warren Wilson College, falling 88-83.
The Wildcats (10-12) were led by Rickey Porter's 21 point effort.
Warren Wilson (14-12) was able to avoid a season sweep against Johnson & Wales, avenging their previous 84-83 loss at the Wildcat Center on Jan. 13.
Much like the previous outing between the teams, the matchup was a back-and-forth affair featuring seven ties and 12 lead changes throughout the game.
The Wildcats spent much of the final 10 minutes of the game trying to knot the score, but 13 points over the final 7:33 by Warren Wilson reserve Devin Davis helped keep the Owls on top.
Davis finished with a season high 15 points on the night to lead the Owls.
Johnson & Wales senior Joshua Cohen was the only player other than Rickey Porter to reach double figures for the Wildcats, finishing with 16 points.
The Wildcats will resume play on Saturday when they travel to Front Royal, VA, to play USCAA foe Christendom College. Tip-off is at 3:00 p.m.
