Volleyball Claims Four Set Win at Sandhills, Improves to 5-0

Box Score

Pinehurst, NC - The Johnson & Wales volleyball continued its perfect start to the season, claiming a come-from-behind win in four sets over Sandhills Community College on Monday by the scores of 15-25, 25-7, 25-20, 25-21.

The Lady Wildcats (5-0) were led by senior Lucy Herrmann with 17 kills and 17 digs, while Toniya Scott added 10 kills on the night.

"Wow, this team has a lot of heart," said Johnson & Wales head coach Callie Phillips.  "We were not at our best in game one and came back to take game two with authority. We were down 20-14 in game four and came roaring back to take that one too. This team doesn't quit and plays hard to win. We're having a lot of fun right now."

Donna Harris paced the attack with a career high 32 assists while Halle Franklin and Johmillet Barrios led the way defensively with 19 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Lady Wildcats resume play on Tuesday when they travel to High Point, NC, to play John Wesley University.  Play begins at 7:00 p.m.
