Box Score High Point, NC - The Johnson & Wales volleyball team capped a perfect August with a five set victory at John Wesley University, winning by the scores of 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-14, 15-12.
With the victory, the Lady Wildcats improved to 6-0, setting the mark for the best start to a season in athletic department history.
"John Wesley has a quality squad, and they pushed us and found some of our weaknesses," said Johnson & Wales head coach Callie Phillips. "We adjusted well to losing our libero, and every team member stepped up to get us this win. I am very proud of our effort and our teamwork tonight."
The team came from behind despite losing Halle Franklin early in the match to injury. Keri Ketchie put in a crucial performance in place of Franklin, leading the team with 30 digs.
Lucy Herrmann continued to rack up kills at an impressive pace, posting 20 on the night while Toniya Scott and Madison Steed recorded 13 and 10 kills, respectively.
Donna Harris paced the attack with 44 assists on the night.
The Lady Wildcats resume play on Thursday when they travel to Dobson, NC, to play Surry Community College. Play is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
