Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales volleyball team was edged out in a five-set thriller against John Wesley University on Thursday, falling 25-23, 24-26, 25-27, 18-25, 9-15.
Senior Lucy Herrmann continued her assault on the record books, recording 20 kills on the night to go with 18 digs for the Lady Wildcats (12-6). She is now just 34 kills from eclipsing the 1,000 kill mark for her career.
Johmillet Berrios recorded 13 kills and 22 digs while Madison Steed added 10 kills for Johnson & Wales.
Donna Harris finished with 38 assists while Halle Franklin led defensively with 30 digs.
"We controlled the game in spots, but John Wesley played well to take it back when it counted," said Lady Wildcats head coach Callie Phillips. "We'll continue to work on our consistency and accuracy this weekend."
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Saturday when they host Bob Jones University and Morris College in the JWU Tri-Match. Play begins at noon, as the Lady Wildcats take on Bob Jones in the opener.
