Box Score Salisbury, NC - The Johnson & Wales volleyball team claimed a five-set victory on the road at NCAA D2 Livingstone College on Tuesday, winning 25-18, 19-25, 25-14, 16-25, 15-10.
Lucy Herrmann led the way with 15 kills and 17 digs on the night for the Lady Wildcats (7-1), who maintain their best start in program history.
"Today was a big day for our team," said Johnson & Wales head coach Callie Phillips. "Classes started, and we got a big win on the road. Livingstone was very scrappy and made us work to find a rhythm, but we worked together and finished it out. I'm very proud of our effort."
Toniya Scott added 13 kills for the visitors, while Donna Harris posted 31 assists and 14 digs.
Johmillet Berrios led the defensive effort with 27 digs while Victoria Hicklin and Halle Franklin each posted 15 digs.
The team will resume play on Thursday when they host local rival Johnson C. Smith in the season home opener. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
