Box Score Charlotte, NC - The USCAA #11 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team finished the month of January undefeated after claiming an 87-79 victory over Bob Jones University on Tuesday at the Wildcat Center.
Freshman guard Megan Sanders finished with a career high 23 points for the Wildcats (10-5) after hitting 7-of-8 shots from beyond the arc. Her seven three-pointers set a program record.
Ineesha Hankerson added 15 points and 13 rebounds while Vanderia Shackleford recorded a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Bianca Covington and Jaquana Pauling also finished with 10 points each for Johnson & Wales.
The Wildcats have gone a perfect 5-0 since the winter break and haven't lost since Dec. 16. On Tuesday, they did it on the strength of their rebounding and assists. Johnson & Wales posted a 21-12 assist-to-turnover ratio on the night and dominated Bob Jones on the boards, winning the battle 52-36.
Amanda Bates led Bob Jones with 18 points and seven rebounds.
The Wildcats resume play on Thursday when they travel to Swannanoa, NC, for a pivotal USCAA showdown with #16 Warren Wilson College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
