Box Score Pinehurst, N.C. - The USCAA #8 Johnson & Wales volleyball team completed a season sweep of Sandhills Community College on Tuesday, defeating the Flyers in five sets by the scores of 25-23, 25-23, 17-25, 22-25, 15-11.
The Wildcats (13-11) handed Sandhills their first loss at home all season and only their fifth of the year. It was the second time the teams went to five sets this season, with Johnson & Wales also coming out on top Sept. 19 at the Wildcat Center.
"Sandhills is a very strong team in the midst of a great season," said Wildcats head coach Callie Phillips. "We've had two outstanding matches with them, and they have really shown us how we can work together and get the win. I'm very proud of my team tonight."
Kendall Watson led the defense with 37 digs - the second highest total of her career.
The Wildcats will resume play on Thursday when they travel to Thomasville, N.C., to play Davidson County Community College. Play is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
