Wildcats Use Big Fourth Quarter to See Off Agnes Scott

Box Score

Decatur, G.A. - A 20-7 run in the final eight minutes proved decisive as the Johnson & Wales women's basketball team claimed a 63-47 win at Agnes Scott on Sunday.

Chase Muhammad and Jaquana Pauling tied for a game high 14 points on the afternoon for the Wildcats (6-1), while Bianca Covington added 12 points.

Johnson & Wales was clinging to a 43-40 lead in the fourth quarter until Muhammad hit a pair of free throws with 7:51 remaining.  Two quick baskets by Pauling and Ineesha Hankerson stretched the lead to nine, and Agnes Scott would never get back within seven points the rest of the way.

The Wildcats struggled from the floor, connecting on just 33 percent of their shots.  However, they forced Agnes Scott into 35 turnovers and were able to create 63 shots compared to just 37 for the hosts.  Pauling led all players with six steals.

Johnson & Wales will resume play on Tuesday when it travels to Durham, N.C., to play NCAA D1 foe North Carolina Central University.  Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
