Knights Outlast JWU Men's Basketball 76-69

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - Strong performances from both Rickey Porter and Alcyone Moore weren't enough to help the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team break their losing streak, as the Wildcats fell 76-69 to NAIA foe St. Andrews University on Monday.

Porter and Moore each scored 21 points for the Wildcats (7-18), who have now lost eight in a row.

Johnson & Wales led by as many as 11 late in the first half, but the Knights steadily chipped away at the lead over the final four-and-a-half minutes of the period and were able to take a one point advantage into the intermission.

The Wildcats trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half, but pulled to within four on a layup by Jarrett Ballard with 40 seconds remaining.  Despite numerous opportunities, Johnson & Wales would not record another basket the rest of the way.

Titus Gary led all scorers with 22 points for St. Andrews.

The Wildcats will resume play on Wednesday when they travel to Swannanoa, NC, to play USCAA rival Warren Wilson College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
