Box Score Charlotte, N.C. - Jada Morgan scored a career high 18 points off the bench as the USCAA #2 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team won 74-65 over Bob Jones University at the Wildcat Center on Tuesday.
Morgan finished 8-of-12 from the field for the Wildcats (9-4), leading all scorers on the evening.
Ineesha Hankerson and Chase Muhammad each recorded 15 points for Johnson & Wales while Vanderia Shackleford chipped in with 11 points.
After trailing early in the first quarter, the Wildcats embarked on an 18-0 run over the next four-and-a-half minutes to take a commanding 24-9 lead.
Johnson & Wales led by as many as 16 points early in the third quarter after a three-pointer by Muhammad made it 41-25, but the Bruins were able to chip away at the deficit and pull to within four with 20 seconds remaining in the period on a free throw by Gracen Ledford.
The Wildcats were still holding on to a 69-65 advantage with a minute remaining in the game, but clutch free throw shooting by Muhammad clinched victory for the hosts.
Sarah Thomsen led Bob Jones with 15 points.
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Thursday when it hosts Piedmont International University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
