Box Score Swannanoa, N.C. - Vanderia Shackleford led all players with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists, helping the USCAA #4 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team claim an 86-69 win at USCAA #3 Warren Wilson College on Saturday.
Shackleford's numbers were season highs for the senior and three-time USCAA All-American, and were instrumental in helping the Wildcats (11-4) claim a high profile win over their in-state rival.
Jada Morgan added 19 points while Chase Muhammad (14 points), Bianca Covington (12 points), and Jaquana Pauling (10 points) also reached double figures for Johnson & Wales.
The Wildcats led wire-to-wire and were up by double digits most of the game. A 12-2 run to close the first quarter gave the Wildcats a 23-11 advantage, and the Owls never managed to get within single digits the rest of the way.
Danasia Dumas led Warren Wilson with 21 points, but finished just 1-of-10 from behind the arc. The Owls (14-6) were limited to just 35 percent shooting on the night, and connected on just 6-of-24 of their efforts from deep.
The Wildcats were also dominant on the boards, holding a 47-30 advantage over Warren Wilson while claiming a 25-5 advantage in second chance points over their hosts.
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Tuesday when it hosts Toccoa Falls College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
