Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Volleyball Team of Johnson & Wales University took the court for the last regular season match on Monday as they hosted Sandhills Community College. On "Dig Pink Night", the Wildcats took a 3-0 victory over the visiting Flyers.
#5 JWU jumped out to an early lead in the first set on the way to a 25-15 win. Set two saw the Flyers (23-4) reach 21 points, but still out of reach. The Wildcats (15-14) finished the night and regular season with a 25-18 set three victory.
Head Coach Callie Phillips on the win: "This was a great way to end our season tonight with a full team effort. We played well on both sides of the ball and took the initiative when we needed it. I am very pleased with our final regular season match and eagerly await the announcement on Wednesday. We have great momentum from tonight to carry us into the postseason."
Iyana Favor had 7 kills for JWU while Moana Reid had 23 assists. Kendall Watson (18), Halle Franklin (15), and Toniya Scott (10) all collected double digit digs.
With the conclusion of the regular season, JWU's volleyball team awaits Wednesday's announcement of the USCAA D2 National Championship bids.
