Wildcats Extend Winning Streak to 10, Defeat PIU 66-48

Box Score

Winston-Salem, N.C. - A 12-0 run at the end of the first half helped the USCAA #2 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team claim a 66-48 victory at Piedmont International University on Thursday.

Ineesha Hankerson scored 13 points to lead Johnson & Wales (18-4), as the Wildcats extended a program record with 10 straight victories.  The team hasn't lost since Dec. 21, suffered at the hands of NCAA Division I opponent South Carolina State.

Justice Wallace finished with nine points, while Chase Muhammad and Jada Morgan each chipped in with eight points.

The Wildcats started the game slow, offensively, and found themselves trailing 22-17 midway through the second quarter.  However, Johnson & Wales would dominate the rest of the period, taking a 29-22 lead into the break.  They would extend the advantage to 20 by the end of the third, putting to rest any fears of an upset.

The team will shift its focus to Saturday for the regular season finale against Voorhees College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in the Wildcat Center.
