Wildcats Roll on Senior Day

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales remained undefeated in calendar year 2018 with a 73-57 win over Voorhees on Senior Day. Prior to the game, JWU celebrated seniors Jaquana Pauling and Vanderia Shackleford, as well as senior manager Paris France-Lynch as they made their final appearances in the Wildcat Center.

Once the game began, the Wildcats forged ahead behind 8 points from Ineesha Hankerson en route to a 23-13 first quarter lead. JWU turned up the defensive pressure in the 2nd quarter, holding Voorhees (4-24) to only 10 points in the period. The Wildcats shot the ball well (48.3%) in the first half, staking themselves to a 42-33 halftime advantage.

JWU suffered through an 0-14 FG stretch in the third quarter that saw the Lady Tigers close to within 13 points, but that is as close as it would get the rest of the way.

Hankerson led the Wildcats with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Shackleford went out on a high note, tallying 12 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals. Chase Muhammad also scored 12 for JWU. Pauling had 8 points and 8 rebounds in her finale.

Nijah Davis scored a game-high 25 points for Voorhees.

JWU now awaits Tuesday's announcement of the field for the USCAA National Championships, to be held in Uniontown, PA March 1-3.
