Big First Half Lifts Wildcats Past #4 Warren Wilson 84-62

Charlotte, N.C. - The USCAA #2 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team opened a 19-point first half lead before coasting to an 84-62 victory over #4 Warren Wilson College on Friday at the Wildcat Center.

Jada Morgan scored 16 points for the Wildcats (16-4), winners of eight straight since the start of January.  Vanderia Shackleford added 14 points while Chase Muhammad (11 points), Ineesha Hankerson (11 points, 12 rebounds) and Jaquana Pauling (10 points) also reached double figures.

Johnson & Wales led by eight after the first quarter before opening on a 17-6 run in the second period to establish a commanding advantage.

The Wildcats used their athleticism to give Warren Wilson fits throughout the night, scoring 22 points off of turnovers and winning the rebounding battle 50-37.

Warren Wilson struggled offensively as well, connecting on less than 30% of its attempts from the field, including just 5-of-28 from three-point territory.

The Owls were led by Danasia Dumas, who scored a game high 27 points to go with 11 rebounds.

Johnson & Wales will resume play on Monday when it hosts Columbia International University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
