Volleyball On Fire In Home Opener

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales University's Women's Volleyball Team played their first home match of the season on Tuesday. This was the first athletic event on the newly renovated gym floor, and the Wildcats christened it with a victory over Livingstone College, 3-0.

Head Coach Callie Phillips was proud of the team's effort against the Blue Bears (0-1). "We stood fast tonight against a challenge from a good team.  We're still working on some little things that we can tighten up, but I am very optimistic that we will continue to improve throughout the season.  We worked well again as a team tonight, and various players stepped up to help us get the win. Thanks to all of the fans who came out to fill up our temporary bleachers."

Toniya Scott led the Wildcats (6-1) with 7 kills. Kendall Watson led the team with 13 digs. Moana Reid recorded 26 assists to go along with her 10 digs.

JWU's next match is again at home on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 7:00pm against Benedict College.
