Columbia, SC- The Johnson & Wales Volleyball Team traveled to Benedict College on Tuesday looking to avenge an early season defeat at the hands of the Tigers. The goal was accomplished as the Wildcats returned home with the 3-1 victory.

The Wildcats (16-5) used 16 kills to take set one from the home-standing Tigers 25-21. BC (10-9) bounced back in the second, claiming a set of their own with a 25-18 win. The third set gave JWU back control as they cruised to a 25-16 win before finishing the Tigers 25-19 in the fourth set.

Iyana Favor led JWU with 14 kills followed by Taylor Walker with 11 and Toniya Scott with 10. Scott, Taylor Walker, and Isabelle LeMaster combined for 12 blocks on the evening. Demya Scott paced the team with 15 digs followed by Riley Oros and Moana Reid with 14 each. Natalie Carpenter contributed 13 digs while Toniya Scott had 12 and Emily Arends added 11. Reid again led the charge with 32 assists.

"We got back to our style of play tonight," commented JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "Our passing was much improved, and our offense was more efficient as a result. Our hitters found some open spots and made smart plays all night. This was a nice win for us."

JWU's next match is October 17th when the Wildcats host Piedmont International on at 7:00 pm.
