Women's Basketball Plays Top Competition On New York Road Trip

Buffalo, NY - The Johnson & Wales University Women's Basketball Team traveled to New York to test themselves against the USCAA's best this weekend. Less than 48 hours after battling D2 #1 Villa Maria to a 92-83 loss, the Wildcats fell to D1 #1 Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) 99-61.

In game one on Friday, JWU played Villa Maria (9-1). The Wildcats outrebounded the top ranked Vikings 47 to 33, helping them gain a second chance scoring advantage of 23-8. The Vikings' bench outscored their Wildcat counterparts, though, 34-14. Jada Morgan had 22 points and 8 rebounds for JWU while Ineesha Hankerson added 21 points and 13 rebounds.

In Sunday's game the Wildcats took on the #1 team in USCAA D1, Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo). Shannon Martin had 17 points for JWU, including 5 of 11 of from three. Ineesha Hankerson had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jada Morgan chipped in six assists.

"Our Trip to buffalo was a good test and learning experience for our team," commented JWU Head Coach Ashley Raley-Ross."We faced good competition that has prepared us to enter the second half our season strong."

The Wildcats move to 4-6 on the season and return to action on December 18th when they take on SC Faith A&M with a 6:00 pm tip-off.
