Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales welcomed EMAC foe The Apprentice School to the Wildcat Center on Friday afternoon for their annual Education Day matinee. The Wildcats ran their win streak to 9 with a 94-72 victory over the builders.

The two teams played an even first half as JWU (14-8, 7-0)) led by only a pair at the half, 42-40. Kajuan Madden-McAfee paced the Wildcats with 17 first half points, while Drew Walton kept the Builders close with 10 points and 8 rebounds. 

JWU slowly built a double-digit advantage in the first ten minutes of the second half, keyed largely by Robert Hobson's 8 points and 7 more from PJ Gill. Apprentice (11-10, 4-4) made a final push, cutting the Wildcat lead to 7 on Walton's layup with 4:42 left. The Builders wouldn't score again, as JWU closed the game with a 15-0 run for the final margin of 94-72.

Madden-McAfee set a new career high for the second game in a row, finishing with 25 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Hobson added 18 points and 3 blocks, while Zyrion Wilkins pitched in with 15 points and 6 reboiunds. Majerle Poole recorded a double-double off the bench with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The victory clinched the top overall seed for the Wildcats in the EMAC tournament, to be held February 22-23, 2019 in Charlotte. Their four game homestand continues Tuesday night as they welcome Morris College for a 7pm tip.
