Box Score 2 Emory, VA - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte volleyball team traveled to Emory, VA on Friday for two matches against Emory & Henry and Regent University. The Wildcats fell in both matches.
The host Wasps (5-8) dominated throughout, winning 25-14, 25-13, 25-11. Isabelle Lemaster and Mikayla Tucker each had 6 kills in the losing effort to lead the Wildcats (8-6). Logan Smith added 10 assists, while Lynasia Felder tallied 9 digs.
JWU battled Regent in the nightcap. They forced extra points in the first set before falling 28-26. JWU rebounded to take the second set by that same 28-26 score. JWU could not capitalize on that momentum, as Regent claimed the final two sets by identical 25-18 tallies.
Tucker recorded a double-double in the second match, with career-highs of 11 kills and 11 digs. Taylor Walker added 9 kills. Logan Smith and Niecee Perofeta combined for 34 assists, while Peofeta also recorded 12 digs. Lynasia Felder led the Wildcats with 14 digs.
Coach Phillips took positives from the matches, despite the outcome. "We fought hard tonight against two good teams, despite having some players out due to injury. I'm proud of our work, and we'll continue to recover and improve."
Johnson & Wales returns home on Tuesday, October 4th for a 7pm match against Toccoa Falls
