Box Score Due West, SC - Johnson & Wales improved to 2-0 on the season as they rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Erskine 60-53.
The Wildcats started quickly jumping out to a 10-4 lead after Mariana Ballard hit a three pointer with 5:41 left in the first quarter. The Fleet took control from there putting together a 19-6 run that spanned the first and second quarters that put them ahead 23-16. A Mariah Corry three put Erskine (0-1) up by ten with 3:38 to play in the half, but JUW broke off a 10-0 spurt of their own to knot the score at the break.
The third quarter saw the teams take turns with the lead with Erskine ending the stanza with a two point advantage at 46-44. The Fleet built on that advantage in the fourth, and led by as many as five points at 51-46 with 6:28 left to play. The Wildcats closed with a flourish, ending the game with a 14-2 flurry that saw JWU go 10-10 at the free thow line.
Tanaeschia Dorsey led JWU with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Ke'Airra Gregory added 13 points and 9 rebounds. The Jordans, Jordan McDuffie (11 points, 6 rebounds) and Jordan Durant (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals), both played key roles in the win, as did Mariana Ballard who tallied 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The Wildcats are next in action on Tuesday, November 16th when they host Voorhees at 7pm.
