Box Score Salisbury, NC - The Johnson & Wales Volleyball team traveled to NCAA D-II Livingstone College on Tuesday night for the second of a four match road swing. The Wildcats had their best offensive game of the season in a 3-0 sweep of the Blue Bears.
Livingstone (2-1) led early in set number 1 before Johnson & Wales took control and pulled away to win 25-20. The Wildcats turned the tables in set 2, building as much as a seven point lead in the middle of the set. Livingstone rallied to make it close near the end, before JWU was able to close the stanza, winning 25-22. The failed comeback attempt seemed to take the wind from Livingstone's sails in set 3. They were unable to muster an answer to a Wildcat offense that hit a season-high .295 on the evening, while only committing a season best 8 hitting errors. JWU also passed the ball well, recording 47 digs and assisting on 87% of their kills. JWU cruised in the final set, 25-12 to move to 7-3 on the season.
Emily Arends led the Wildcats with 9 kills while hitting .467 for the match. She also had 14 digs on the evening. Demya Scott added 7 kills, while Isabelle Lemaster had 6, and Taylor Walker tallied 5. Lynasia Felder led JWU with 18 digs. Niecee Perofeta and Logan Smith combined to hand out 24 assists.
JWU is next in action on Saturday as they head to Pinehurst, NC to take on Sandhills Community College and USC-Sumter in a tri-match. First game tips at 11:00am.
