Volleyball Earns Split at Sandhills Tri-Match

Pinehurst, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer Team traveled to Sandhills Community College on Saturday to participate in a tri-match with the host Flyers and USC-Sumter. The Wildcats earned a spilt in the two matches, falling in 3 sets to Sandhills, before rebounding to sweep USC-Sumter.

Match 1 Highlights:
  • JWU falls to 7-4 on the season.
  • Sandhills has won 5 matches in a row since losing to the Wildcats in Charlotte on 9/11, and is now 7-4.
  • Sandhills outhit the Wildcats .259 to .127
  • Both the Wildcats and the Flyers recorded 52 digs
  • Sandhills served 10 aces in the match.
  • Demya Scott led JWU with 11 kills and 8 digs in the match.
Match 2 Highlights:
  • JWU improves to 8-4 on the season.
  • USC-Sumter is now 2-10 on the season.
  • JWU recorded 30 kills against only 16 errors in the match.
  • They also had 9 service aces and 65 digs.
  • Emily Arends was the star of the match, tallying 12 kills on .360 hitting, while adding 4 service aces and 9 digs.
