Box Score Charlotte, NC - Visiting Erskine College used a stifling defensive effort in the fourth quarter to defeat Johnson & Wales 68-62 on Friday evening.
After playing to a 13-13 stalemate in the first period, Erskine took a 7 point halftime lead on the strength of four Alexis Bruce three pointers in the second period.
The Wildcats responded in kind in the third quarter, as they used the long ball to re-take a two point advantage over the Fleet. JWU got two three pointers form Victoria Boddie, as one each from Sydney Wells and Jayla Lovett in the stanza.
JWU went cold in the fourth quarter, shooting just 2 of 12 from the field, and committing 10 turnovers. That led to a season-low 4 points in the quarter, and allowed Erskine to hold on to the lead for the game's final six and a half minutes.
Jordan Durant was the lone double figure scorer for JWU, tallying 13 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Boddie had 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Joyiah White scored 7 points and grabbed 10 boards.
The Wildcats travel to Queens on Tuesday, November 22nd for an exhibition game. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
