Women's Basketball Rallies To Top Morris

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team tipped off the 2022-23 season with a 68-63 win over Morris on Thursday night.

How It Happened:
  • Morris led 20-12 after the first quarter as JWU shot just 3-10 from the field and committed 8 turnovers.
  • The Wildcats rallied to grab a one point halftime lead as Morris went cold in the second quarter, shooting just 3-15 from the field. Jordan Durant scored 9 of her game high 23 points in the stanza.
  • JWU extended their lead to 8 with 4 minutes to play in the third quarter, before Morris rallied to tie the score with a 13-5 run to end the period.
  • The Hornets took the lead on a Skye McRae three pointer 30 seconds into the fourth before Durant answered with a three of her own 90 seconds later.
  • With her team leading by two, Tanaeschia Dorsey scored 8 points down the stretch, including 4 in the final 36 seconds, to secure the win for the Wildcats.
