Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team defeated Pfeiffer 68-60 on Wednesday night as senior guard Tanaeschia Dorsey eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for her career.
Pfeiffer led 15-11 after one quarter as the Wildcats struggled from the field, shooting just 22.2%. Dorsey went on an 7-0 run by herself to start the second quarter, pushing JWU ahead by 3 at 18-15. JWU would extend the lead to 12 at the half, as they knocked down four of six 3 point attempts in the period. Dorsey continued her great play in the third quarter as she scored 9 of JWU's 17 points, helping the Wildcats to push their lead to 14 after 30 minutes.
A Jayla Lovett conventional three point play halfway through the fourth quarter gave JWU their largest lead of the night at 65-46. Pfieffer wouldn't go away quietly, however. The Falcons outscored JWU 14-0 over the next four minutes to cut the deficit to just five at 65-60. Jordan Durant then hit a three pointer on the left wing with 33 seconds left to seal the game for the Wildcats.
Dorsey's 19 points gives her 1,009 for her career both at Clinton College and JWU. Durant led the Wildcats with 20 points and added 8 rebounds. Joyiah White grabbed 15 rebounds and had 4 blocks.
The Wildcats are next in action on Friday, December 2nd as they host Mars Hill at 7pm.
