Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team played their best defensive game of the season as they defeated Bob Jones 72-52 Thursday night.
The Wildcats forced 28 Bruin turnovers, and recorded 7 blocked shots, six of them by Joyiah White. They also held Bob Jones to just 31.7% shooting.
JWU sprinted out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter, but then went cold in the second, shooting just 3-25 from the field, allowing the Bruins to cut the lead to just five at halftime, 29-24. The Wildcats found their shooting touch in the second half, as they went 19-41 from the field to pull away.
Jayla Lovett came off the bench to score 25 points and grab 6 steals. Tanaeschia Dorsey had 16 points, while Jordan Durant nearly had a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. White added 14 rebounds to her 6 blocks.
The Wildcats are next in action on Saturday, 12/10 when they travel to NC A&T for an exhibition game at 2:00pm.
