Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte volleyball team opened their home schedule on Wednesday night as they welcomed in an undefeated USC-Lancaster team. The match was close throughout, with the Lancers prevailing 3-1.
How It Happened:
- The Wildcats started fast, winning seven of the first ten points of the match. The Lancers responded with a 9-4 spurt of their own to pull ahead 12-11.
- USC-Lancaster took control of the set from that point, winning 25-18.
- The Wildcats played well throughout much of the second set, and had a set point at 24-20 after an Emily Arends service ace.
- The Lancers responded by running off six consecutive points to take the second set 26-24.
- JWU jumped out to a 10-5 lead early in the third set before USC-L rallied to tie the set at 11.
- The Wildcats responded with their best stretch of the match. They took a 22-17 lead before finishing out the set with a 25-19 win.
- The fourth set was a tight back and forth affair that neither team led by more than five.
- Lancaster saw their lead cut to two at 20-18, but the Lancers saw out the end of the set, winning 25-23, and taking the match 3-1.
