Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team fell to Voorhees 48-42 on Thursday night.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-4 lead after the first quarter as they held the Tigers to just 2 of 10 shooting in the first ten minutes. Voorhees responded to grab a one point halftime advantage largely due to converting 6 of 8 free throws in the second period.
The Tigers got hot in the 3rd quarter, shooting 53.3% from the field in building a 40-29 lead. Voorhees briefly extended their lead to thirteen in the fourth, before JWU cut it back to ten. A long scoring drought by both teams prevented JWU from cutting into the lead further. JWU was able to get within 4 points in the game's final thirty seconds, but could get no closer.
Despite outrebounding Voorhees by 13, JWU shot just 24.6% from the field in the game and committed 34 turnovers.
Tanaeschia Dorsey led the Wildcats with 13 points, while Jordan Durant scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and recorded 6 steals.
JWU is next in action on Saturday, January 14th as they travel to Carolina University for a 2pm tipoff.
