Box Score Winston-Salem, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team broke a three game skid with a 69-63 win over Carolina University on Saturday afternoon.
Following the first ten minutes that saw the score tied at 16, JWU played their best quarter of the season to date, outscoring the Bruins 30-13. The Wildcats shot 57.9% from the field in the period, making two of their 4 three point attempts. JWU assisted on 10 of their 11 field goals. They also outrebounded Carolina 11-6 and forced 7 Bruin turnovers in the period.
Carolina got hot from the field in the third quarter, shooting 54.5% themselves, but could only trim the JWU lead to 15 after thirty minutes. JWU held the Bruins at arms length for most of the final stanza, with Carolina getting within five points only in the last fifteen seconds of the game.
Tanaeshia Dorsey and Jordan Durant scored 17 points each to pace the Wildcats. Joyiah White added 12 points and 9 rebounds, while Sydney Wells came off the bench to score 9 points and grab 9 boards.
The Wildcats are next in action on Monday, January 16th when they travel to Toccoa Falls for a 5pm tipoff.
