Men's Basketball Rallies To Upend Knights

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's basketball team knocked off Berkeley (NY) 99-95 in a matchup of top 15 ranked teams on Sunday.

How It Happened:
  • The 10th ranked Wildcats jumped out to an 8-4 lead, scoring on four of their first five possessions.
  • 13th ranked Berkeley responded with a 15-0 run over the next four minutes to open up an eleven point advantage.
  • JWU whittled away at the Knight lead, getting within two at 23-31 on an Anthoney Ray three pointer at the 8:19 mark of the first half.
  • Berkeley regained control of the game, pushing their lead to as many as 8 before settling for a 44-39 halftime advantage.
  • The Knights extended their lead to nine in the first minutes of the second half, and maintained that lead for the next fourteen minutes.
  • Fred Patterson and Anthoney Ray combined for 8 points in an 8-2 run that brought JWU level with Berkeley at 86-86 with 3:34 left to play.
  • The two then scored three additional points to give the Wildcats their first lead since it was 8-6.
