Volleyball Downs Allen on Senior Night

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales defeated Allen University 3-1 Friday night as the Wildcats honored graduating senior Kenner Pedigo.

JWU used an 8-2 run in the middle of the first set to turn a one point advantage into a 20-13 lead, and went on to win the set 25-22. The Wildcats found themselves down by 5 points in the second set, but rallied to tie the score at 17. The set would turn into one of the longest in program history that Allen would go on to win 32-30. 

JWU again used a huge run in the third set to take control. This time it was a 13-2 spurt that gave them a 17-8 advantage. Jamia McCoy's service ace provided the final point of the set in a 25-21 win. The fourth set was close throughout and was tied late in the stanza at 24. Mikayla Seymour-Tucker put away a kill, and Aimee Evans had the match deciding block on the final two points to give the match to the Wildcats.

Evans led the Wildcats with 14 kills, while Seymour-Tucker added a career-high 13. Kaylee Atkins had 11 kills and 14 digs. Logan Smith had 35 assists, while Sage Franzel tallied 17 digs. Pedigo had 5 service aces.

The Wildcats are back at home on Tuesday, September 17th when they host Sandhills Community College for a 6pm  match.
