Women's Soccer Caps Regular Season With Shutout

Pineville, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's soccer team closed the regular season with a 3-0 win over Warren Wilson on Thursday night.

Elizabeth Parsells opened the scoring in the twelfth minute when Katie Douglas crossed a ball in front of goal that Parsells finished. JWU continued to attack the Owl net, recording 11 first half shots, but could do no further damage, thanks to five saves from Warren Wilson keeper Callie Aerni.

The Wildcats doubled their advantage two minutes after halftime when Savannah Weekes dribbled around two defenders in the box and found a streaking Isabella Davila, who did the rest. Weekes was involved in the final goal of the night, as her shot in front of goal was blocked by Aerni, but fell right to the feet of Mia Townson, who found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.

Makenzie Stocum and Hanna Ciplickas combined on the shutout in goal for JWU.

With the regular season complete, the Wildcats await the announcement of bids for the USCAA National Championships. Those selections take place on November 8th.
