Women's Basketball Falls to Flying Fleet

Box Score Due West, SC - Erskine held off Johnson & Wales 64-58 in women's basketball action on Friday night.

How it happened:
  • Erskine jumped out to an 8-2 advantage in the game's first two and a half minutes.
  • The Flying Fleet extended that lead to as many as 9, before JWU closed the quarter on a 7-2 run to trim their deficit to 4 at 21-17.
  • The Wildcats then reeled off 6 straight points to take a 23-21 lead three minutes into the second period.
  • Erskine broke a 27 all tie by scoring the final three points of the half to go to the break up 30-27.
  • The Flying Fleet twice led by as many as six in the third, including a 46-40 advantage as the stanza expired.
  • JWU trailed by 8 with 108 seconds left, but rallied to cut the lead to 62-58 with 11 seconds to play.
  • Erskine converted two free throws for the final margin of victory.
