Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's basketball team improved to 4-3 with a 96-93 win over Blue Lights College on Thursday night.
The Wildcats used a 13-6 run over the final four minutes of the first half to take control of what had been a back and forth first sixteen minutes. JWU shot 58.6% from the field and made 6 of 9 three point shots in the opening stanza, led by 13 points from
Jaben Mars.
Blue Lights rallied from a ten point deficit and took the lead with seven minutes into the second half behind a 14-0 spurt. JWU took the lead for good on
Kendall Wooldridge's jumper with 6:18 left, and built as large as an 8 point lead, but still needed a solid defensive stand on the Thoroughbred's final possession to secure the win.
The Wildcats had seven players score in double-figures, a season high.
Nathan Meshida led the way with 19 points, to go along with 5 rebounds and 8 assists.
Cameron Lawson added 18 points, while Wooldridge scored 16. Mars posted career high's in both points (15) and rebounds (10).
Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead just missed being the second Wildcat with a double-double, tallyinig 14 points and 9 boards, while
Jaden Scriven added 11 points.
JWU makes the short trip to Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, 12/2Â Tip off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
