Raleigh, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team picked up their second win in a 24 hour span in the state's capital city as they defeated Meredith 86-36 on Saturday afternoon.
JWU doubled up the Avenging Angels 24-12 in the first quarter, thanks in large part to 9 points from
Jamyah Blakeney. Those were part of a career high 21 points for the Monroe, NC freshman on the afternoon. The Wildcats built a 43-22 halftime lead as they shot 44% from the field. JWU then let their defense finish the job in the second half, as they held Meredith to just 14 points after halftime.Â
Fourteen of the fifteen Wildcats that saw action on Saturday scored at least one point, and thirteen made at least one field goal.
Korletta Daniels also scored a career-high 15 points to go along with 8 rebounds.
Jordan Durant had 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, while
Gabby Tapley tallied 9 points and 8 boards.
The Wildcats are now off until January 4th, when they travel to Columbus, GA to take on the College of Coastal Georgia. Game time is 5:30pm.
