Charlotte, NC - Visiting Converse held off Johnson & Wales Charlotte 60-53 in women's basketball action on Friday night.

How It Happened:

• Converse took a 14-10 lead after a low scoring first period that saw the Wildcats shoot just 15% from the field, but the Valkyries failed to capitalize by committing 9 turnovers.
• The teams played to a 16 all stalemate in the second quarter, as JWU picked up their shooting to the tune of 5 of 10 from the field and 5 of 6 at the free throw line.
• The Valkryies put some distance between themselves and the Wildcats in the third quarter, thrice leading by as many as eleven, before settling for a 51-42 advantage after 30 minutes.
• A Jayla Lovett three pointer midway through the final stanza pulled JWU to within two at 53-51, but the Wildcats could get no closer.

• Already missing one starter, the Wildcats lost post player Joyiah White just one minute into the game.
• Converse outrebounded JWU 35-28.
• Tanaeschia Dorsey led the Wildcats with 16 points.
